UK to open visa centre in Changsha in June

The United Kingdom, following forecasts this year of record-breaking demand for visas, will increase the number of its Visa Application Centres in China from 12 to 15.

New visa application centre will be located in Changsha, Kunming and Xian, and is open to applicants in the next month.

The UK is committed to providing first-class visa services in China. In 2015, the United Kingdom granted more than 491,000-year visas to Chinese citizens.

The new Visa Centres will launch a variety of paid services that are available in other centres, including the very popular 'English speed check' service. Additionally, The UK will increase it's flagship Beijing and Guangzhou Visa Centres to cope with the scale of applications due for the summer peak season.

United Kingdom Foreign Minister Rothin (Martyn Roper) said "Expanding our visa application centres in China for our applicants, as well as supporting the United Kingdom's tourism industry, is good news. For thousands of applicants, whether a tourist or business visit to United Kingdom, this will be much more convenient "

"This is part of a series of developments for creating faster applications and a simpler and more convenient application process, including our two-year visa pilot programme launched in January"

"We predict that this summer we will see record number of visa applications in China, and have confidence in our world class visa service to cope with the increasing demand for visas"

United Kingdom Consulate Lu Moxue (Matthew Rous) added "The best way to improve relations between the two countries, is to allow people to get local access to apply for visas. Changsha is about to have its own United Kingdom visa application centre, which will feature excellent facilities combined with a flexible and convenient visa service. This is a great opportunity for Hunan people!”

The UK's commitment to expanding the China visa service centre network, forms part of UK Prime Minister David Cameron's meeting last October with President Xi of China.

The UK visa centres are currently located in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen and Wuhan Visa Centre (closest to Changsha).

Changsha has recently opened a wave of European visa centres opening Europe up to mass China tourism and business. A great step forward.

The new Changsha centre is set to open on June 27 2016.

Address: No.1-3 Conference Room, 2/F, White Swan Hotel, No.258, Xiangfu Zhong Lu, Tianxin District, Changsha, 410000, China.
