Yes, it's that magical time to dress up once again... to present yourself in the scariest way possible and have an almighty laugh, with a beer in hand! So, we have put together this simple guide to the major bars, restaurants and other locations that are doing something for Halloween that you can take part in! But be warned, the guide is being updated all the time as news of events comes in, so keep checking us out!

You'll see the main nightclubs, coffee shops and other places celebrating Halloween with elaborate entrances and ghouls but is that where the best parties are at? Perhaps... but we can reveal to you the best deals and spots worth a visit on 31st October, and throughout the weekend, in some cases!

Let's Bar & Diner

If you're in the ID Mall area, you can enjoy one free beer if you turn up in fancy dress at American diner Let's Bar (address: L452, 4th floor, YueFang ID Mall)! A great place to stop off for a burger and a free beer before heading out to the the main bars. Find out more about their deal in Chinese right here!

Alive Bar

Walking five minutes north towards the Wuyi Square area... there's the brand new and stylish 'Alive' bar which regularly plays host to a range of live music bands and holds various high-end activities, with Halloween as no exception! The Alive Bar weixin ad for Halloween is here, for more details and pictures of this stylish venue.

Paulaner Brauhaus

If you're starting from further south in the city, why not make a beeline for the city's numbero uno German pub, the Paulaner Brauhaus at the Kempinski Hotel (main entrance at the rear). The Kempinski Hotel is Changsha's newest, five star hotel a stone's throw from the Walmart on Shaoshan South Avenue. Go dressed up and get a 0.3L beer for free! Paulaner dares you to go and enjoy their special welcome cocktail, whilst enjoying the spooky make-over that will be given to the pub. A 'best dressed' competition will also be held during the evening; with the winner getting 50% off their bill! Pretty awesome albeit scary! Paulaner is situated just south of DongTang. Still not sure? Check out our bar page for a map. You can also use your WNIC CITY ECARD there for even more discounts!

Mega Cafe & Sports Bar

Not far from the Paulaner and HeLong stadium is the premier sports bar in the city, run by an Aussie, Laurence, the Mega Cafe & Sports Bar is on Laodong ZhongLu (slightly east of DongTang) and is a very popular expat hang out! The bar will be spooky and have many drinks specials on offer. Discounts include BeerLao, Mixes and Kaiserdom along with prizes for the best dressed. You can also use your WNIC CITY ECARD there for further discounts!

Redlive Club

Redlive Club
, near La Nova shopping mall and the new Wanda complex, will have DJ Mo Bass bringing the scene to life through great dance music! Tickets include a drink and a great night of mayhem and fun. You can check out their offers and posters right here!

Hooligans Pub

Perhaps the most popular area for foreigners will be that of Xinmin Lu (West side of the river).
This is Changsha's main expat bar hang out street (see here for more). Hooligans Pub, the city's original and much loved foreigner's pub, will have a big party with free scary face painting, a costume competition with grand prize for the winner, 3 darts competitions and DJ Dusty managing the decks from 10-12pm! Drink specials include all single shot cocktails for ¥20 and ¥15 draft beer! Hooligans is also a WNIC CITY ECARD member so you can get further discounts there (for example, half price pints after midnight)! Hooligans has always been a popular spot!

Hawa Bar

Close to Hooligans you'll also find the ever-popular, especially with students, Hawa Bar. This very spacious and groovy bar now has a new second floor and covered garden making it a great spot in all weathers. This is the largest Hawa of the three across the city.

46Livehouse & Crave Deli & Bar

Next to Hawa is the city's premier alternative music venue and what is expected to be the city's biggest and coolest dance party till very late, 46Livehouse will host Electric Underground DJ night, playing all kinds of awesome and wild tunes, so you can dance your heart away in fancy dress! Ticket entry to 46 includes a wristband allowing you free entry and exit as you wish, in association with Crave Deli & Bar opposite. Crave is Changsha's most popular expat hang out and an awesome place for beer pong, fussball and all kinds of crazy, eventful games. This is considered by many as the meeting point and a great place to make new friends. Crave also accepts the WNIC CITY ECARD.

Wow Bar

Staying on the west side of the river for the time-being, a little further North (close to Hexi area) is Wow bar... which also promises to have great decorations, drinks offers and plenty of loud, great tunes!

M2

If you're up for something more commercialised, busier and louder, then head back over the bridge and finish the night off at M2 Club (opposite another branch of Hawa). M2 will be putting on a spooky horror-Disney theme. You can check out their full weixin ad here!

All in all, Halloween has finally, after so many years, fallen on a Friday night and that means it's going to be a great night out with friends! Don't forget your camera and fangs!

But wait... the festivities are not over as easily as that, no! There are other Halloween events going on across the city over the weekend. In Changsha, the theme park Window of the World (close to Hunan TV) will hold a special Halloween night of games and events. Tickets cost 68yuan to enter.

In Xiangtan, a large town south of Changsha (regular buses depart from HouJiaTang South, near to the Hawa bar in HouJiaTang until about 7 or 8pm usually), there will be a large scale zombies v humans 'race'. Choose which team to be on (zombies are limited to the first 50 participants) and then, from 3-6pm, the race begins - get to the finish or be eaten alive! There are two events, on 1st and 2nd November. Then, on the evening of 2nd (Sunday) you can take part in their 'rebirth dance party' 6-9pm!
