A Changsha woman has had a two centimetre long parasite living in her eye removed by doctors.
33-year-old Li noticed something thin moving in her eye as she looked into the mirror. So, she visited the Hunan People's Hospital for treatment, to be inspected by two doctors for a while, until -after much jostling with the object, it emerged into the main outer section of the eye. The worm is called a conjunctival sucking nematode and is commonly found in cattle and often in the India region of Asia.
One of the doctors remarked "I became a doctor for nearly 30 years have never seen such a case." Such parasites are often found in dogs, cats and other animals. However, there have only ever been 380 reported cases involving humans.
