HANGZHOU-CHANGSHA/Huaihua HIGH SPEED rail LINE OPENS

2014.12.15

Recently, the Hangzhou-Changsha line opened. The G85, originally leaving Shanghai, departed for Changsha from Hangzhou East Railway Station with 2 hours, 14 minutes to Nanchang and 3 hours, 36 minutes to Changsha, a truly "flying General" speed.

Each row has sockets to allow for electronic device charging. However, there were receptions issues with the high speed of the train. Wifi cards are on sale although the wifi was far from perfect due to passenger usage and load on the onboard server.

Services include care for the elderly and disabled with special, warm blankets, cushions, disposable slippers, and also Starbucks and Haagen-Dazs products.  Dinner can, of course, be purchased at 15, 30, 40 yuan trays.

Overall, this brings Changsha within easy range of beautiful Hangzhou. The line will soon be extended further southern to Kunming making cross China rail travel a breeze!

UPDATE:

Tickets have now started to go on sale for high speed service to Huaihua in the far West of Hunan province. This will make access to FengHuang, Furong village and other great regional sights convenient.

The services to Huaihua only take 78 minutes and feature reclining, comfortable seating and charge sockets.
